Cairo-Durham High School was scheduled for a routine sports flooring sand and refinish in the summer of 2022. A challenge arose when the school requested the replacement of old sharp metal ramps with something safer and more visually appealing. Milburn’s team came up with the solution to use CourtEdge™ Reducer Ramps by Safepath. CourtEdge™ Reducer Ramps are designed to remove vertical barriers and be affixed to the vertical sides of sports flooring, gyms, and other raised platforms that are in need of a smooth transition up from the subfloor. These ramps are made of rubber, so there are no sharp or hazardous edges. They are also ADA compliant making it handicap accessible with no weight limitations. In the high school, all four corners of the room had CourtEdge™ Reducer Ramps installed.Designed for interior and exterior applications, CourtEdge™ Reducers will not freeze, crack, or splinter. Milburn worked with RENU to rip up the old ramps and RENU’s skilled carpenters installed the new footing that the CourtEdge™ Ramp sits on to make it a seamless transition from the wood floor to the ramp. After this safe, durable, and aesthetically pleasing solution was installed, the wood flooring system was sanded and refinished with a newly painted logo.
